The Harrisburg High School boys track and field team earned four top-10 finishes Saturday as it opened its season at Southern Illinois University. John David Rollins finished second in the long jump and fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.86 seconds.

Harrisburg Police arrested a man accused of kidnapping and battering a woman early this morning. Police received the call 3:42 a.m. of a possible altercation happening in a car at the intersection of Ledford Street and Charleston Street, Chief Bob Smith said.

Off-duty Harrisburg Police officers and Saline County Sheriff's deputies will be familiar faces in Harrisburg High School this year. Police Chief Bob Smith said the school has requested an officer to patrol the hallways, possibly until the end of the year, in order to quell a rise in mischief.
